Hello from California
Hello,
I got my first introduction to LaTeX I believe it was in 2004.
My introduction came from LyX. Had to write a paper with equations, Linux was my OS, LyX is what I found. Soon I found myself wanting direct control rather than a frontend, so I started using texlive direct
I don't use LaTeX often, just an occasional user.

It's not so important if you are a occasional or regular user.
