Bibliography question

Post by danmacfry »

I'm sure this has been asked before, but couldn't find the answer googling.

I simply want to insert a bibliography at the end of a paper, and then a citation to an entry in the bibliography.

From what I've read online, it should be as straightforward as:
1) Go to the end of the document and switch to the Bibliography environment. Type the reference
2) Insert citation with Insert-Citation

If I do the above, I get nearly what I want. I simply want something like this [1], where [1] is defined at the end of the paper.

What I get is the following: (author?) [1]

What does the (author?) complaint mean?

I'm using LyX version 2.0.0

So the problem seems to be from the Article(Elsevier) Document class.

I guess I can't use the standard default LyX References style, and use BibTex, which I was hoping to avoid...
