Tons of questions regarding Lyx and Latex installation.

So recently, I decided to install Lyx for Mac, but I found tons if issues.

Firts, when installing Latex, there should be a GwTex folder in the /usr/local... it's not there, i think I installed everything correctly.

Then, when installing Latex, I can't find the templates, they say I need to install it, but there are not installers in the 2.0.4 file.

Now, they say the templates are in the Application Support folder... there is no Lyx Application support folder...

Help?

Welcome to the board!

Which LaTeX did you install? From where did you get it, did you download it? How did you install it? If you describe it with some details, we might be able to help.

First of all: LyX is not LaTeX. It's just an application which uses LaTeX. So be sure that you installed a LaTeX too, such as MacTeX.

Hi jaimefercampos,

This is a known *LyX* problem specific to Mac OS and has been around for a while. See the bug report here (although not much useful information):

this is not a solution to your question but have you tried using lyx under virtual windows on a mac?

i find that under windows, jabref + lyx is a good combination for academic research. on my computer i am using windows 7, if it's a small issue, sometimes I can figure it out by just playing around with settings and etc.

on the other hand, when using mac (or linux), i am just completely clueless.
