BibTex/Lyx Problem

Post by WalidSaladin »

Hi

I don't know whether the problems I'm experiencing are as a result of LyX or JabRef2.6/BibTex but this is my problem.

Below you can see an example of an entry in the BibTex/JabRef library.

Code: Select all

@ARTICLE{Lian_2009,
  author = {L.-Y. Lian, Al-Helal M., Roslaini A. M., Fisher N., Bray P.G, Ward
	S. A. and Biagini G. A.},
  title = {Glycerol: An unexpected major metabolite of energy metabolism by
	the human malaria parasite},
  journal = {Malaria Journal},
  year = {2009}, ...
}
I linked the BibTex library to a LyX document and cited some of the references. The authors are jumbled up as you can see below with the first author (as given in the BibTex source code above) occurring as author no. 5.
Roslaini A. M. Fisher N. Bray P.G Ward S. A. L.-Y. Lian, Al-Helal M. and Biagini G. A. Glycerol: An unexpected major metabolite of energy metabolism by the human malaria parasite. Malaria Journal, 8:38, 2009.
What can I do to fix this problem?

I have another question which I will ask in another thread.

Thank you in advance.

BibTex/Lyx Problem

Post by cgnieder »

Well, the formatting of the bibliography entries depends on the style you've chosen. So it is not uncommon to see something different from the bib entry in the document. Depending on the style and the method you're creating the bibliography it could also read
Lian et.al. Glycerol: An unexpected major…
I've noticed one thing, though: you should seperate each author in the bibentry with an and. Otherwise the style will usually interpret everything before the and as one name.

Code: Select all

@ARTICLE{Lian_2009,
  author = {L.-Y. Lian and M. Al-Helal and A. M- Roslaini and N. Fisher and P. G. Bray and S. A. Ward and G. A. Biagini},
  title = {Glycerol: An unexpected major metabolite of energy metabolism by
        the human malaria parasite},
  journal = {Malaria Journal},
  year = {2009}, ...
}
