The title page has to be very specific according to the regulations of my university. I've just done the whole page in the standard layout, and centred everything, making the fonts larger - I've used 'huge' for the title! And I've put page breaks in-between the pages, as shown below. I've used the unnumbered chapter (chapter*) for the headings in summary and acknowledgements, and that works fine.
title
summary
dedication
acknowledgements
My first problem is with the title page. I've tried putting a vertical space above the title of the thesis, because I don't want it right at the top of the page. But LyX ignores my vertical space whenever I convert to PDF, its really frustrating. How do I get around this?
I've tried using the title layout for the title, but then it ruins it - it puts the title on the page and today's date, and moves all the other stuff (which should be on the title page) to the next page!!!
Also, I can't work out how to lay out the dedication. I want it normal sized text, centred on the page (both vertical and horizontal), with no heading. Whenever I try and put a vertical space at the top, it ignores it again!!!
I am guessing that I'm not doing it right but I can't find any obvious built-in support for these features in LyX. Can anyone help, please
