Control and Adjustment for blank vertical Space

Post by Addle »

I generate tests in LaTeX and after the test is administered, I generate solutions. The tests have blank vertical space generated by \vspace* where students do work. When the solutions are typeset, I have to manually adjust the space generated by \vspace* to keep the page layout the same.

Is there any simple way to automate this?

It seems like there should be some kind of box that would reserve a specific amount of vertical space no matter what's inside, but I haven't been able to find such a thing.

From the exam class I seem to know that it supports the replacement of solutions by equivalent blank space. So, give it a try.
