I have just installed texlive in ubuntu 11.10.How can I automate my references search like in refwork?
also which is the best gui for using with texlive?

You can, to my knowledge, use RefWorks itself to output to a file BibTeX will understand. Then use BibTeX as usual.
I tend to find that "automatic" export of references from other programs doesn't do a good job, though.
