Text in 2nd Column overwritten by wide Graphics/Tables

Post by MikeCapron »

I'm a newbie who has diligently searched for the answer to this question, but can't find it.

I am using the default "article document" class. Under "Text Layout", I have checked the box for "Two-Column document".

Whenever I insert a graphic or a table that is wider than my first column, the text of the second column is placed over top of the part of the graphic or table that extends into the second column.

Surely there is a way to have it wrap around instead? :?:

(I have tried putting my graphic and table inside a Wrap Float, but this has not solved the problem.)

This is what the PDF looks like...
