Compiler Engine not found

Post by gubi »

I have a problem, when I try to create a PDF from a template LaTeX file. I get the error message: "The program pdftex.exe was not found". It says that the file was searched in an array of folders, but wasn't found. In the preference Typesetting window everything looks normal. I searched the web to solve my problem, but didn't get any useful information. Can anyone give a suggestion?

Hi Gubi,

welcome to the board!

For new questions, please open a new topic instead of attaching a post to an older topic.

Regarding your problem - did you install a TeX distibution, such as TeX Live or MiKTeX, or just an editor? The latter alone is not enough.

Hi Stephan!

Guten Tag! Thank you for your reply! Yes, I am a new member, I just heard about latex in university. The professor didn't tell us that a separate package has to be installed as well. This seems a very good programme, however it's not clear to me that what is the difference between the different modules: latex, texniccenter, miktex, texworks, texmaker etc.. Anyways, thank you for the reply, it helped a lot, everything is working well!

Auf Wiedersehen!
