Hi,
today I decided to update MikTeX (from 2.7 to 2.9) and Texmaker (from 1.8 to 3.0). OS is Windows Vista. Basically I did it because MikTeX 2.7 is no longer maintained and I could not add packages.
I have problems when I compile files of the beamer documentclass. It asks for "ms" package, but the package manager cannot download it: I get the message API 87 error. I tried to change repository, but still get the same error message.
I downloaded the "ms" package file from CTAN, but just moving it into MikTeX2.9\tex\latex and refreshing the package manager database was not enough (I know some geek is laughing, but desperate people make desperate moves...).
Clearly the file was nicely compiled with the old MikTeX 2.7 and also with TexLive under Ubuntu.
Has anybody any hint? Thanks!
