Last year I wrote a report with texmaker on windows XP. Now, I am using Mac OS 10.6.7 (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz) and do have to write another report.
For that, I installed Texmaker on mac and loaded my last report (which was written on Windows XP with Texmaker).
Now, if I try to save anything, I get the message "The file could not be saved. Please check if you have write permission.", although I am the only user on the mac and do have read and write pemissions.
Secondly, if I try to call the tool PDFLatex, I get "Process exited with error(s)". If I check the log, however, I dont see any errors, but only some warnings, which also were present on WindowsXP, but the tool worked without problems.
What am I doing wrong?

Re: texmaker on mac with some problems
Hi Disney,
welcome to the board!
Firstly, check the write permissions exactly in the folder where you save it.
Regarding the second problem, perhaps post the .log file here, as attachment to a post.
Besides Texmaker, which is just an editor, you also need a TeX installation, such as MacTeX 2010 (2011 will appear very soon). Did you install that?

Re: texmaker on mac with some problems
Hi Stefan,
thanks a lot!
I checked the permissions of the folder and the files within the folder via right click -> getInfo. I see, that I already have read&write privileges. The problem still exist.
Regarding the log file. It is also somehow weird here. I get the message "Process exited with error(s)", if I click PDFLaTeX. But then, if I check the log file, its actually the file from last year. I am not able to see or find any actual log file.
Thank you for pointing to the issues with a Tex install. As I quickly read about TexMaker in the site, there was stated, that TexMaker already includes everything, so I expected it to work with no other installation. However, bevor that, I already installed another tool TexShop, which already included everything needed, as TexLive (?!?) or similar. But, I do not want to work with TexShop, what should I do? I seem to have a Tex, due to complete install of TexShop, but how to connect the things with TexMaker? Or how can I check or be sure, whether TexMaker is ready to use or not?
thanks a lot!
