TeX Live and MacTeX ⇒ Installation Problem with Tex Live 2010

hello, i am trying to install tex live 2010 and i get this error

untar: untarring C:\texlive\2010\temp\luatex.win32.tar failed (in C:\texlive\2010)
untarring C:\texlive\2010\temp\luatex.win32.tar failed, stopping install.
Installation failed.
Rerunning the installer will try to restart the installation.
Or you can restart by running the installer with:
install-tl.bat --profile installation.profile [EXTRA-ARGS]

what can i do about it?

Hi,

try getting the file luatex.win32.tar again manually and put it to the same place C:\texlive\2010\temp, replacing the probably corrupted file. The restart the installation.

Sure, you can find download hints on the TeX Live homepage. It should be on CTAN. A quick look shows this directory:

Btw. to extract xz archives you can use the free 7zip program.

I just can't manage to get it work..i downloaded the file and replaced it. started the installation again and had the same problem with kpathsea.win32 which i replaced in the same way. i started the installation again and had the same problem with the same file. I deleted the folder texlive from C:/ started the installation again and now it gives me error with cachepic.win32 tar:Could not change access and modification times of bin/win32/cachepic.exe: Permission denied

I remember I had three times such an error with a corrupt archive, each time I replaced the archive and then it was ok.

You could try downloading the DVD ISO, burn it (or use it with ISO software) and install from that instead of doing it online.

My most recent installation was TeX Live 2011, the pretest version. I downloaded the complete directory from a pretest mirror server and installed from my local copy. It works fine on Windows 7. I guess in just some days the public release will come.

I had same problem regarding installation of TeX Live 2011. I deactivated my Anti-Virus, then Installed.
