Regarding subscript and inequality

Post by aquafina »

Hello,

Please help me with these 2 questions:

Q1. To output x greater than equal to y, I use $x \geq y$. Output is correct, but x and y are displayed in italics. How can I get regular x and y (i.e. NOT in italics).

Q2. How to output something like P subscript {x greater than equal to y}. Somehow P_{$x \geq v$} is not working.

Thank you.

Hi aquafina,

welcome to the board!

It's very common to write variables in italic. Have a look at books - do you find any math book where variables have the same font as the text, such that "any" looks like the product of a, n and y?

Also, write $P_{x \geq v}$. Subscripts require math mode. If it's really necessary it's possible, but at first think over using math italic font for math expressions.

Yes, it surely makes sense to have variables in italics :)
