External location of bibtex file

Post by mhle »

Hello, I'm using TeXnicCenter 2.0A3, and I have my bibtex files in a local texmf tree sepperate from my project files. When I use TC it does not find the bibtex files referenced in my document, is there something I can do to fix this? Thanks for any assistance!

.. M

External location of bibtex file

Are you using MikTeX or TeXlive? If MikTeX, did you follow the instructions here for integrating local additions, and did you refresh the FNDB afterwards? If TeXlive, is the folder found in the result of running "kpsepath bib" from the command line?

And refresh the FNDB? (After adding the bib file?)

Are you sure you put it in the right location in the tree?

Can you post the BibTeX log (.blg) file here?

(It's probably short enough to paste in a code box; if you need to do it as an attachment, you'll probably need to rename it or put it in a .zip file.)

The document compiles just fine - with references. But TeXnicCenter does not "see" the file, as in I am unable to choose my citations from a list and it will not open the bibtex file from within the project.

Oh, OK, I misunderstood what problem you were having. This is a TXC-specific problem; I'm afraid I can't help since I don't use it. Maybe someone else will know what to do.

I have checked the TexnicCenter bug database and it seems what I have been describing is a known limitation at present.
