Interesting Lyx Bug

Post by BenBBB »

Dear LyX-Friends,

I'm constantly experiencing a minor but quite
annoying bug when using the windows version of Lyx (1.6.x).

Since this bug persists in the beta release of Lyx (2.3.x),
I'm asking you whether you know any tips to solve it:

The problem is that LyX when saving a *.lyx file,
automatically creates but doesn't delete a second file
called *.lyx~.

Since I'm useually working with a large number of different
LaX-files most of the msaved on the desktop, this leads
to a lot of garbage, which is highly annoying.

Has anybody an idea what to do about this?

Thanks!

**Ben

Those are backup files which should be invisible (at least on Linux they are). It is not a bug, but a feature. You can turn this on or off in Tools > Preferences > User Interface: "Backup original documents when saving" and "Backup documents, every 'x' minutes". However, I'm not sure if this is a good idea, since .lyx files can get corrupted, so take care.
