Miktex with Windows2007
So far I was using Miktex2.8 on Windows 2003. Few days ago Windows2007 was installed on my PC and the old latex files are not compiling properly anymore. I'm going to post the log files as there I can well see, where the problem is. Unfortunately I can't solve it. Is there a different structure in Windows2007 and do I have to set some links manually? Or does adobe cause the problem?
Thank you
Franziska

(See "TeXnicCenter compatibility")
Try opening the LaTeX file in TeXworks (which is part of MikTeX), does it translate from there?
Re: Miktex with Windows2007
Thank you for the hint with TeXwokrs as it brought me to the problem.
Re: Miktex with Windows2007
By the way: For editing files I prefer TeXnicCenter but for problems with packages TeXworks seems to be more straight forward with the error messages.
Miktex with Windows2007
In my experience, if the Windows user account is not an account with admin rights --which often is the case for a machine in an office-- problems accessing the MikTeX package database can occur and ahve to be resolved by the admin, as in the security setup seems to be too strict to let the MikTeX package manager update itself with the missing packages.Franziska wrote:Copy paste of the packages did not work out. (Have no idea why.) I disconnected the laptop from the network system from work and connected to my privat one. Some packages had to be downloaded which was no problem. I guess the problem was due to the restriction of the network connection and had nothing to do with compatibility or Miktex...?
I'm just asking: Did you know you can reach error messages via F9 in TXC, warnings via F10 and that those messages are in general are the output of the compiler, and the compiler gets them from the used resources (packages)? That's at least how I work with TXC. Manually checking the .log-file would be too time-consuming for me.By the way: For editing files I prefer TeXnicCenter but for problems with packages TeXworks seems to be more straight forward with the error messages.
Also ... I read along when you started this thread, I only found out via googling what operating systems you use so it was quite confusing at first.

I read in advance about that but expected the problem somewhere else.In my experience, if the Windows user account is not an account with admin rights problems accessing the MikTeX package database can occur
Yes, working with those output messages but didn't know that I can jump directly to the right spots with F9 and F10 - thank you (only used log file because got stuck with the error messages)Did you know you can reach error messages via F9 in TXC, warnings via F10 and that those messages are in general are the output of the compiler
Sorry, I'm going to do better next time...Also ... I read along when you started this thread, I only found out via googling what operating systems you use so it was quite confusing at first.
