Split Journal Paper into Multiple Parts

Post by Ben67 »

I am writing a journal paper that has grown to 30 pages long, so I would like to split it into two 15 page parts: part I and part II. I plan to submit both parts to the same journal at the same time, so I would like to be able to reference figures/tables/sections from part I in the text of part II, and vice versa. However, I need a separate bibliography and a separate frontmatter (title, authors, abstract, etc.) for each part.

I'm aware of the multibib package, but I believe that only fixes the separate bibliography problem.

Any ideas on how to do this? Multiple part journal papers seem to be fairly common, so I would think someone would have found a solution to this.

Does anyone have a solution out there for my problem? If the answer is obvious and I'm just missing something, even a terse reply would be appreciated.

Split Journal Paper into Multiple Parts

Hi Ben,

welcome to the board!
You posted the question also here: Split Journal Paper into Multiple Parts. And you already got an answer there.

This is a so called cross-posting and undesired according to the board rules (similar on boards world-wide). Hidden cross-posting is not nice. What if there's a solution on the other board? Shall we still work here? It's like wasting the time of voluntary helpers just because it doesn't cost anything.

Sorry. I didn't mean to upset anyone or waste anyone's time by cross posting. I simply didn't get a response after 4 days, so I thought I would try elsewhere. Given that I've gotten a few replies at TSE, I think I will pursue it there. My apologies.

It would be no problem at all if you just update the question with a link to where it's being discussed additionally. You win because of getting a greater audience and the readers win because they can check out the suggestions on the other web site before creating own solutions.

Kind regards,
