Recompile after "undefined references"

Post by LionAM »

Hello!
I'm using TexnicCenter with the MikTeX distribution to compile my thesis (already a larger project with multiple included subfiles) - I chose the LaTeX -> DVI (-> PDF) chain.

When I add a citation or a reference, MikTeX gives me warnings about "undefined references", as can be expected. However, when I have to recompile up to 3 times to make all warnings vanish, which takes quite some time for me...

Is there any way to speed this up? Any ideas, why I have to recompile so often - or is there a mode where MikTeX searches only for the references without creating the whole document?

Alex
