Hi All,
I have a question for the experienced LaTexian (is that how you would spell it??). Anyways, I am an orange-belt when it comes to using LaTex and I am trying to write my dissertation. The university I go to doesn't provide decent style files and I find myself editing them as I go. Something that I can't seem to find an answer to, however, is formatting the separation between the table or figure number and the title of the table or figure in the LOT and LOF. I am using the amsbook environment and anytime I try to use tocloft it blows up on me. This is some code that it will compile in the .LOT file each time I run LaTex:
\contentsline {table}{\numberline {3.1}{\ignorespaces Calculated Structural Parameters for Perfluoroiodoethane.$^{a}$}}{50}
My problem is this, how do I insert extra space between the 3.1 and the caption each time I compile? If I go directly to the file, save it, and compile again, it just gets overwritten. Remember that I cannot use tocloft for some reason as it has been blowing up on me. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
Smitty
