LyX ⇒ Unavailable document class
Unavailable document class
Everything was working fine with Lyx 2.2 on Windows 10 until I did an update for windows (I think).
Now, Lyx is not working properly. I eventually had to uninstall Lyx and Miktex and reinstall them again.
But the problem persists: First, when I compile any file I get a message saying "The directory path to the
document cannot contain spaces". I've never had this error before but then when I went to Documents -> setting
I found that all classes (Articles, books, ... etc.) are unavailable. I tried many things to solve the problem including some of the tips in:
http://latex-community.org/forum/viewto ... ass#p85337
and
http://latex-community.org/forum/viewto ... ass#p84796
with no use. I tried adding paths to Miktex and every time I reconfigure Lyx and restart.
Not sure what to do.

Unavailable document class
I'm working with TeX Live for many years and I'm very satisfied with it.

Unavailable document class
After two days of trying to install Texlive I finally managed to install it.
Now It's working fine and I can see many of the missing document classes.
It's weird though since under tools -> preferences, the path suggests that Lyx
is using Miktek and not Texlive [C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\miktex].
I'm not sure which one it is using!
In the future, if I needed to add a document class that is not available (dimmed),
what would be the best way to add it?
Thanks again,
lyxer

Unavailable document class
For the future, I recommend to make a full TeX installation, so you would have all document classes and all packages available, without any headache later because of additionally required installations. Besides that, it should be installing a document class (or bundle) in a "LaTeX way" (TeX Live manager, or manually and running mktexlsr / texhash), then reconfigure LyX.
