Remove extension for images

Post by Hans Nieuwenhuis »

I've read that you shouldn't add the extension for an image in 'includegraphics' statements (like .png, .jpg et cetera).

Is it possible to remove this when adding an image via the 'Insert figure' dialog?

Maybe via an option in the dialog ('include file name extension' or so) which is unchecked by default?

Recommended reading 2024:

LaTeXguide.org • LaTeX-Cookbook.net • TikZ.org

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

I guess removing these four characters is not really a hard task to do.

True, but I forget to do that many times....and if I have a lot of pictures it's still a lot of work to do manually.....using the same argument: it's also not a lot of work to add the extension manually :)
