Hey guys,

I wanted to make my own Résumé, but i found this awesome templates in this community.
Obviously I want to edit them now but I can't even compile them on my own.

Im using TexMaker 4.4.1. on a Windows 10 desktop and trying to compile the cv7.tex set to 'casual' (also tried banking, doest work either).

I'll screenshot the error line and hope for your help:

and i cant get those errors way. Im hoping for your help, I didnt find anybody having the same issue.

My Problem: It doesnt compile even though I just get warning messages. So sadly dont get a compiled pdf.

I cannot see any arning, just a bunch of warnings. Please have a look into the log file, it shows you more useful information than that what your editor presents you.

At the end it says: "Font umvs at 864 not found" obviously.
But that seems like a strange error. Its seems like I am the only person which has this problem.

A font is not found and this messes up the whole compilation. Since your version of LaTeX is pretty old, i suggest to install a fresh version of TeX Live or MikTeX.

Hey. Thanks for that suggestion.

I'm new to Latex and i want to understand why I should update MikTex or Tex Live when I'm using TexMaker though.

How can I update MikTex, since the "MikTex Update" doesnt seem to be installed on my PC.

The missing font is marvosym.

Also I suggest, make your life easy: do a fresh full (!) install of MiKTeX, or even better in my opinion: remove the old MiKTeX and install the complete TeX Live 2016. It takes two hours even with a good Internet connection, but it's worth the effort. (if the network install stops, simply restart)

If you want to fix the old installation, you could try:

• Start/Run (Ausführen) to run the program cmd.exe
• initexmf --mkmaps
• initexmf --update-fndb

This can fix a broken file name database (especially regarding fonts). If this doesn't help already, install marvosym via the MiKTeX package manager.

It actually got an error message while installing. Did you mean that with stopping?
And what should I restart? The Installation or the desktop?

If you mean installing TeX Live: Simply restart the installation program. It will verify what is already installed, and continue. Sometimes I had to restart 2 or 3 times until all is complete (when Internet is slow).

If you mean a package installation: just try again, or tell us the error message.

Thank you Sir. I meant Tex Live.
I downloaded it and installation finished.
But now my TexMaker is not working anymore. Do you have any suggestion why that happened?

Okay. Everything works now.

I installed Tex Live 2016 and after that had to delete and reinstall TexMaker.

Now the Document works just fine.

What is good about TexLive2016, why is it better than MikTex?
