TexStudio Structure pane - Basic question

Post by Transenglish »

Hi. I am a copy-editor, who has just begun using TexStudion(2.11.0) to edit a client's technical document. I have a lot to learn about the editor (so far I really like it as an editing / collaborating tool)
This question will sound dumb, but we all have to learn somehow, Right?

Q: Today, in the main pane, I closed all the open tabs / document sections (one by one) except the one I was working on. Now the structure pane no longer shows these closed sections, (they are chapters of the document) Errrrm... How do I get them back?
(Restaring doesn't work)

Thanks in advance

Dave

TexStudio Structure pane - Basic question

Post by Johannes_B »

Welcome,

TeXStudio is a nice editor, i prefer vim ;-)

Guessing here: Open your main document and go to the Options drop-down menu and click on make current file the master (or something similar).
Now you can open your chapter and the structure tree should still be there.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Hi Dave,

welcome to the forum!

I cannot say something about TeXstudio, because I don't use it. I use TeXworks. So, I can focus on the content and on LaTeX, not fight with a complex graphical user interface. :-) Though a bigger editor can make the life easier for a power user, once he gets used to the features.

TexStudio Structure pane - Basic question

For texStudio, you could press the tiny buttons on the bottom-left corner. There are two buttons, just press one of them:)

Cheers:)
