G'day from Orstralya

Post by Jethro Belle »

Hello to all :D ,
I am completing my PhD dissertation in classicthesis.sty, however my lack of LyX/LaTeX understanding is causing delays. I consistently find that while LyX is great, it gets in the way of anything beyond default typing to its settings (It hides all LaTeX if it can). Engineering requires STIX, heavy mathematics, lots of technical figures (meaning you need LaTeX quite often)... Most people here give up on LyX and code directly, with good reason, but I can see the LyX potential.
Anyhow I am getting towards the end so tried running ChkTeX only to find in a footnote "not available on MikTeX Windows" That will be my first topic post :D
I chose here because stackexchange is quite restricted to Q&A and some members are anti-LyX. The specific LyX forums seem too "the LyX way or the highway" ;) No doubt you will let me know if this is the wrong place :?

Hi Jethro,

Welcome to the LaTeX community! We have at least one very experienced LyX user here so I hope you'll get all the help you need!

Best regards

Hi,

welcome to the forum!
Yes, here we can talk more freely. As long as it stays on topic ;-) but here both LaTeX and LyX are on topic. Especially the latter in the LyX subforum.
