Hi,
I have been using Lyx 2.1 with miktex 2.9 on windows 7 based system untill now. I recently was given a windows 8.1 based PC at work. When I tried to view my PhD thesis on then new machine, the formatting was all disturbed. When I rechecked it on my windows 7 based laptop, it was fine there.
What could be the source of the problem?

Can you post a minimal example? Please read this:

If not, can you check whether the problem is the LaTeX compilation or differences in PDF viewers? To do this, export your thesis on the computer where it worked well. Then view that PDF on the other computer.
