Hello Everybody

Post by Ehawee »

Well, Hello!

I'm Ehawee, I'm 22 y.o., and I'm french. English is absolutely not my native language, so I hope you'll forgive my mistakes, and you'll help me to improve my english if I commit mistakes bigger than me! I'm a french student, in the second year of my master degree, and I work on the old moral plays. It's a huge corpus of theater in the 15th and 16th centuries in Europe. I work only on the plays in french, but in english you have, for example, the well-known Everyman. In France, all these plays have been forgotten, and we only discover it again right now. So I'm really glad to work on these unknown wonderful texts.

This year, I work on the first edition of one of these text. My work is based on the unique version of this moral play found in a printed book from the early 16th century, and I have to publish it. I looked for a way to have a good page setting, and all the software I can try on linux were really disappointing. One of my friends told me "I found something amazing, it's called LaTeX, I can learn you some bases if you want so" And that's the way I started to use it this summer.

I love the logic of the LaTeX language, it's so clear, so well-organized *w* I'm really fond of! But well, when I have some little problems sometimes, I can't always harass my friend (I know it doesn't bother him, but well, I like finding solutions by my way too) so here I am!

I'm really pleased to meet you, and I hope I could improve my mastery of the LaTeX here (and not only for me, my future thesis supervisor is also really interested in. She heads some publications in France, so it can be useful =3).

Well, I think I have nothing to add =) If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask =)

Hi and welcome to our little community.

Nice that you decided to work with LaTeX. Have you discovered the free ebooks by Nicola Talbot yet? They are great.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.
