Caption of figure in list of figures

Hi,
I have a short question. Is there a simple way that not the complete caption of a figure is shown in the list of figures.
Just like the Latex comand

Code: Select all

\caption[shown in list of figures]{complete caption under the figure}
.

I am not sure what you are looking for. You already know the optional argument of the caption command, isn't that enough? What do you mean with simpler command?
