Page Layout ⇒ Make \marginpar break page in long margin notes

I am transcribing a book with two columns and margin notes on both sides (sometimes long notes). I have tried with \marginpar, \maginnote and \marginfix, but the only one that places notes on both sides of the page is \marginpar. The problem is that long notes run off the bottom of the page instead of break page and continue in the next page.

I have searched for a solution for days but without results.
