enumerate environment inside theorem environment!

Post by abbadi »

Hi Adumas

you can make it using the following steps:

1: create an enumerated list as in this picture with the theorem statement in its first line the first line in the intended enumerated list in the second line, the second line is in the third and so on
Image

2: using the button shown in this picture increase the level of numbering to the next numbering level for all lines starting from no. 2 to the last numbered line

3: change the first line to Theorem or lemma and you will get it

Thank you for sharing your ideas.

of course writing plain TeX script is by far the best (and the less confusing) way to type our ideas correctly in the way we prefer.

the issue of this thread shows that LyX is laying far behind LaTeX.

One of the LyX developers is active here as well.

What is the difference between LyX and LaTeX?

LaTeX is a markup language and LyX tries to set an easy to use user interface on top of that. But as there are soo many different packages, LyX can implement only the basics and most common packages. Once you want to have a specialized solution, you have to go to the LaTeX level.

As a fast typer, there is no difference for me to type in some commands or take the hand off my keyboard to the mouse, do some clicking and go back. But to be honest, does it matter if one stares out of the window for three minutes thinking about what to write?

coming back to the issue at hand.

Thank you abadi for making it clear how to add a itemize environment into Lemma. But the back and forth clicking is to complicated. I am looking for a more elegant solution. Especially because I try to write my notes faster.

@ Johannes: do you have the name of the lyx developer then I would write him directly.

Please do not address people personally when there is a place to ask. This ensures that the whole team of helpers and developers can share their knowledge on this.

Please be as precise as possible with your problem description and link this thread for further reference.
