typing `\root' shows two boxes with same size.

I use LyX 2.1.1 in win7.
Typing `\root' in math mode shows two boxes with the same font size.
I want to make that the front box is shown smaller than second box.
It is possible?
(I do not mean pdf file.)

I believe you would need to edit the C++ source and recompile. This is easy on Ubuntu, but can be extremely painful on Windows. If interested in doing that, send an email to lyx-devel@lists.lyx.org with your question.

Now, I'm using Ubuntu.
Which source file should I edit?
