Footnote symbols don't show using \thanks{} and fontspec

Hi there, congratulation, you found a bug. You can read about it over at the TeX.SX chat.

Joseph Wright is going to write a bug report to the author of fontspec, i hope the issue will be fixed within a few days.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Recommended reading 2024:

LaTeXguide.org • LaTeX-Cookbook.net • TikZ.org

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

Hello again :-)

I was wondering if there was a new patch of fontspec around by now. Browsing CTAN I only find Version 2.4a, which is the most recent installed version I had and with which I had issues.

Thanks in advance! :-)

I fear it got lost somehow, at least I cannot find a ticket for that, but then I do not fully understand those available... Maybe someone registered to github can check this issue? I apologise for the inconvenience.
