No articles being installed on full installation

Hi all,
Im trying to do a full installation of lyx, and im downloading the 300mb windows instalation file but no document classes are being installed. Even default ones like article. I get no error messages during installation, i just open lyx, and it starts complaining the article.cls isnt available, and all the classes in the class list in document settings are greyed out with unavailable next to them.

LyX is some kind of editor, think of it as an assistent or your personal driver. But you still need an engine to run. This is a TeX distribution. TeX Live is available for almost all OSes, MikTeX is a Windows only distribution. You need to install one of the two.

MiKTeX is being installed with Lyx. Its all included in the installer.

Oh, you are right.
I can only guess, that the installation went wrong, but i am not sure. I don't use LyX. Maybe some of the LyX users here habe a clue.

I've installed it 3 times now with the same thing happening each time.

The LyX users might need to know what the name of the executive is. Can you add this?

There are lots of issues with the Windows installer that we never see on Mac or Linux. Sometimes it has to do with a long installation path, sometimes with confusion between Python 2 and 3.

One thing you could try is without LyX running to backup and then delete your user directory (for the location, see help > about). Then start LyX.

If that doesn't work, make a ticket at http://www.lyx.org/trac giving as many details as possible.
