This is my first post on this site and I would like to briefly introduce myself. I'm a software developer and a Ph.D. candidate in Information Systems, currently working on my dissertation.
I'm very new to LaTeX, but considering using it for producing my dissertation research artifacts, most likely presentation slides, but quite possibly the dissertation report as well. I'm using R for developing software for my dissertation study, and, as far as I know, LaTeX and R play well together (planning to use knitr, pandoc and some other nice software packages). If you curious, feel free to visit my main Web hub page at http://aleksandrblekh.com (which is basically an about.me page with a custom domain name) and connect on your favorite professional social networks via links on my page (one caveat: currently I cannot follow people back on Twitter due to 2K limit).
Most of my software development-related knowledge sharing happens on StackExchange sites (StackOverflow and others). This site also looks nice and I hope that its community is as friendly as the site's layout. I came here to post a single question, but I hope that I will continue returning here for knowledge sharing and social interaction. My apologies for making this intro not so brief

Best wishes,
Aleksandr
