Using Lyx for PhD thesis APA 6th Edition

Post by helpmetowrite »

Hello all,

I'm hoping you might be able to help me. I'm currently writing my PhD thesis and would like to use Latex/Lyx.

I downloaded Lyx some weeks ago and have completed the tutorials. I've practiced with some written work and the output looks great.

I have a few questions I would like your comments on, please bear in mind that I'm completely new to Lyx/Latex and whilst I'm keen to learn I'm very time limited so if you think I'm better off sticking with Word please tell me.

1) I'm using the 2.0 thesis template. This looks great but the headers are not to APA 6th edition. Am I best altering this template or writing my own to suit (Eek!)
2) I use Endnote bibliography software. I've got completely confused reading information about how I can intregrate this with Lyx (please help)
3) I suspect my supervisor will want to give me feedback in Word, can I convert my thesis to Word as well as Pdf.

Many many thanks for your help

1. If I go to File > New From Template in LyX 2.1.1 there is a "APA6.lyx" file (note the "6"). Is that not what you want?

2. don't know.

3. No (not with out work at least). Perhaps he can give PDF annotations?
