PAPER.CLS

Post by doceret »

Hello, I am a new user of LaTeX (windows, miktex), and I found this forum because I had some trouble installing the package for the template paper.cls.
Where can I find the necessary files? Then, what have I to do in order to install the package?
Sorry for my English, I'm from Italy. Thank you  !

The installation of paper (and every other package) under MiKTeX is most easily done with the MiKTeX Package Manager (Start -> Programs -> MiKTeX -> Browse Packages). Make sure that you have chosen a server in your country which hosts the package repository. Useful information about maintaining the MiKTeX system and installing packages is given in the MiKTEX Manual (Section 4 - Maintainance).

Thank you localghost. I've tried to do what you say before search for some help, I succeeded installing the package "coursepaper" but I didn't for paper... Opening the folder and reading the readme I saw I need to run a file named "install" but I don't know where I can run that file... I know, I surely seem stupid, I'm sorry of that...
Thank you very much in advance..

I can't comprehend your difficulties. As you can see on the screenshot, the paper class is definitely a part of the MiKTeX distribution. Just repeat the same procedure as for coursepaper and you'll get the class installed. Choose the entry and click on the "+" in the symbol bar.

yes... the problem is that the "+" is "gray" and not "black", so I cannot click on it. I guess that the package is installed yet, but when I build on TeXnic Center my document (on one other pc it worked) it returns this error message:
"LateX Error: File 'paper.cls' not found".

You can see an entry in the column "Installed on" showing the date of installation in the case that the package is installed. If so, de-installing and re-installing the package might help. The default behaviour of MiKTeX is to install classes and packages on-the-fly if needed.

I cannot believe in it... I de-installed the package and now it seems impossible to find the package to be re-installed!! I try to de-install MikTex, and to search one more server to download the entire group of packages... thank you so much for your kind help!

Whatever is going wrong, there should be an error message. As I stated earlier, make sure that you have chosen a server in your country to get the most stable connection to a package repository. In Italy there is one server supporting both the FTP and HTTP protocol. I strongly recommend to study the according sections of the MiKTeX Manual. This way a de-installation of the whole system won't be necessary.

Hi, yes, you have a problem.... but you are not alone... I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!!

The bug is in the package itself, i reinstalled windows (and miktex) to verify this, but i'm working in a solution, if you want to know more, pm me ;)
