I am unable to import template.tex (provided by Springer) into LyX (using plain latex option). The error comes out: cannot convert file.
Next I created a new file from the template for Springer journal provided by LyX, svjour3.lyx. Without editing anything, I exported it to a .tex file (using plain LaTeX option) and tried importing it back again to LyX. The cannot convert error above appears.
Seems like LyX has a problem with Springer's journal class svjour3. It can't even import back a tex file it generated.
Does anyone have a similar experience? How do you produce a document for Springer using LyX?

I understand that this is a frustrating issue for you. Unless you know the details of what's going on, it's hard to see why LyX can't even import files that it exports.
