LayoutFileList::Read: no textclasses found!

Post by daemondave »

Hello;

I get this problem when running lyx in user mode, not super user mode:

LayoutFileList::Read: no textclasses found!

And then it can't use the classes and layouts I have installed.
read permissions are set to all, I checked. Under reconfigure it

Has anyone seen this behaviour?

Thanks

I wiped out the user .lyx/ file and that might have solved it, not sure...

Last I heard of this happening, it this was being caused by a bug in MikTeK where if you told it to download missing files automatically, it wasn't actually doing anything. No idea if that's what's happening in your case, but if it is, the you just have to change the setting in MikTeK to the one where it requests permission to download missing files and then you babysit it while it does so that first time (clicking OK for each package it wants to download) then in LyX go to Tools-Reconfigure, the classes files should appear. That process takes some time, but only has to be done the once.
