I'm writing a linguistics dissertation in a KOMA-script book class and am numbering my examples continuously throughout the chapters using the expex package and not the Covington examples that come with LyX, rather than restarting at each chapter. I'd like my cross-references to just follow that order. So for example, example number 1 is in Chapter 2. I want my cross-reference to display (1), but it displays (2.1). I am using the prettyref package (from a pre-made thesis template). I appreciate any help you can give.
EDIT: Upon doing a second example with expex via ERT, I found that the cross-reference does not recognize the new number, i.e. the first reference is (2.1) and the second reference is also (2.1). Is there a way to fix that?
LyX ⇒ Remove chapter number from references, problems sequencing

Answering my own question:
It works if you set ExPex to not number the example itself, and instead use the Example text setting provided by the Linguistics module. However, you may need to offset the number to get it inside the margins.
