Greetings to the LaTex Community. I am a retired physicist who is just learning LaTex. I will, shortly, post the question that prompted me to join this forum. I do as thorough a search as I can for information before asking for help, but since I may be unfamiliar with the proper terminology for this community, my queries may be ineffective.
I thank all of you in advance for your help and your patience with an absolute newbie.

Feel free to post your question. If you use a different terminology, which made it hard to find an existing solution, further readers will find it easier in case they use the same words in their search. So even a question for an existing solution would make it more accessible.
