Texmaker and TeXstudio

I'm a newbie, trying to write a thesis in TeXmaker.

I am struggling with biblatex and Biber and have not found a way to produce a formatted footnote. I am using Scrivener for my thesis which can compile a file for TeXmaker.
Also, should footnotes be on format \footonote\autocite?

We'll need to see a minimal working example showing what you are doing in your input. As it stands we'll struggle to provide any real advice.
