LaTeX in Debian

Post by OlaffTheGreat »

Greetings ! And I won't use latex' gloves ! (sorry, I had to make this one !  )
I wondered around LaTeX for many times before beeing kind of forced to jump in, by writing a mémoire I could not aford to write with word.
So I went through the first steps by myself, especially using the tool on a physics and languistic paper (so enjoyed much the discovery for exotics packages installation !)

Now I reinstalled the whole tool in a more simple way through a main plain texlive package which makes eventually things much easier.

Afer faced first basic steps, I have to realise a much more complicate project about an agenda booklet where I hope find here some help.

Carry on the community for the sake of a such powerfull tool !

How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

Hi,

welcome to the forum!

Our Debian friends do a very good job in packaging TeX Live for Debian and Ubuntu. A manual installation can provide some more recently updated packages, but the Debian repository version is usually stable and modern enough for the most work, so recommendable and easy to maintain.

Thank you for your kind greetings !
First time I installed texlive, it was so difficult. Now, thanks to the "all in one" package, it turned out so easy to play with in Debian as in Archlinux I just gave a try.
Step by step, using (at least installing) texlive becomes easier and easier.
