It was very careless to install an ancient TeX distribution on a quite new operating system (OS). A TeX system has to be kept up to date like you do that with your OS.
Remember to adapt the settings of WinEdt after installing the new TeX system. The path to executables will slightly change. But WinEdt should offer some kind of wizard for this purpose.
