Trojan in Lyx 1.6 Windows Beta ?

Post by =Alex= »

Hi,

I just downloaded the Lyx 1.6 developer edition:
ftp://ftp.devel.lyx.org/pub/lyx/pre/lyx ... Bundle.exe

and during installing my Virus Scanner (avast) alerts me about a Trojan in the temp directory.

It is not the best virus scanner but it is up to date, so I though to tell you.

Info:
File name: X:\temp\nspB5.tmp\nsB6.tmp
Malware name: Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}
Malware type: Virus/Worm
VPS version: 080729-0, 29.07.2008
(the name changes each start ...)
During install the warning comes again after these steps:
Startup
Compiling Python Scripts
Updating MikTex Filename Database
Configurating LyX

I hope it is false alarm

cheers

Judging from the malware name returned by Avast no specific trojan has been detected, so probably something in the installer triggered one of the anti-virus heuristics. Please report that to LyX's developers. Even is there is no virus, such an installer doesn't make users comfortable. I'm sure they would like to know about it.

Cheers,

Tomek
