Hi all,
I am new to this forum and to LaTeX in general. Earlier today I installed TeXstudio 2.6. Installation seemed to work fine.
I wrote a dummy piece of code but I haven't been able to view a document. I have created and saved a sample document. If I click "build and compile" (the two green arrows) it says "Can't find C:\Users..." though that is the correct file path. "Compile" (single green arrow) does nothing. Clicking the Adobe icon opens Adobe in an external window but then says "file could not be found".
Under Options>Configure TexStudio>Commands tab, all fields say "unknown" except the External PDF Viewer one ""C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" "?am.pdf"
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue? Since neither green button seems to compile anything, is TeXstudio the problem rather than Adobe?
Thanks for your time, any help would be much appreciated.
James

TeXstudio 2.6 not compiling or converting to adobe 10 pdf
Hi, did you install a common TeX Distribution like TeXLive or MikTeX?
TeXstudio is just the editor, not the actual program to typeset your documents.

The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Thanks for the reply Johannes,
I had only installed TeXStudio up to now. I will install MikTeX and try from there now.
