ecrm1000
seems to be a bitmap font file (that's what a quick web search suggests to me). Maybe you can (a) attach a small sample file that produces this error to your next post and (b) tell us what TeX system you've got installed and how you're trying to produce the PDF.Regards

Re: LyX PdfTex Error
Thanks for the reply. I have the software setup on a computer at work, so I don't have access to it until Monday. I am not doing anything special with the program. Just typing one word on the screen and then clicking on the double eyeball to create the PDF. The MikTex that comes with the bundle install is also installed on the computer.
Obviously I don't know much about the software, but I have to get it running for a lab and don't know how to get rid of the error. I have uninstalled both the MikTex and LyX and reinstalled, but still get the error. I installed it on one computer and don't get the error, so I am not sure why this machine is getting the error.

Good news, I got it installed. I uninstalled, removed all temp files, installed under a different account which still failed, removed the software again, then installed it again under Administrator and it works on all the accounts now.
On to my next issue though. I always get this error when closing LyX.

That's strange. Windows is tricky stuff!
You could try using a different path for temporary files: go to Tools > Paths > and under "Temporary directory" choose a folder where you have write and delete permissions.
Does that work?

I created a folder on the C drive called Temp and then changed the path to it, but still get the error message. The account that I am using has Administrator rights to the machine. Any other ideas?

OK, I may or may not have solved it. If I open the program, create a new document and then click the double eyeballs and open it with Adobe Reader and then close the program, it will get the error. If I specifically save the document that I am working in and then exit the program, it does not give the error.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't be surprised if the problem is coming from Adobe Reader (it does not play friendly with other software. There are several issues with it thinking it's the only software allowed to create and read PDFs). Have you tried a different PDF reader? I've heard good things about Sumatra PDF reader. It is free and open source.AnotherHickey wrote:OK, I may or may not have solved it. Another vote for either Sumatra PDF reader or PDF-XChange (I use the latter these days on my Windows box, but use Sumatra PDF on my work laptop.)scottkosty wrote:Thanks for the info.
