Unstorable Files due to Permission Issue

Post by Evilexi »

Hi,

I am new to LaTeX, and decided to go with the TeXmaker editor. I downloaded, installed and updated MiKTeX, and then TeXmaker 4.0 afterwards.

I have sadly already encountered a problem: when I open TeXmaker for the first time, create new file/project (Ctrl+N) and tries to save it, I get an error message:
The file could not be saved. Please check if you have write permission.
I cannot find a solution, but have seen others with the same problem.
Does anyone know what to do!?

Hi

I had the same problem just now. I added .tex to the name and it worked. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. Writing foo.tex as the name of the file to be saved does help ... in the sense that it allows me to save the file, but sintax highlighting no longer works for that file

When you save the file with an extension the syntax highlighting disappeared. Close the file and re- open it. Syntax highlighting works again. I reinstalled version 3.5.2. This version works perfect.
