non-cited references - et.al - weird outcome

Post by fensterflieger »

Hello,

I'm using LyX and Jabref together with article koma-script, natbib (author-year) and plainnat.bst. When I enter article or tech-repport data in jabref and cite them in LyX usually everything works fine.

However, if there are bibtex-entries with many authors I get the following problem:

as long as I choose the option: list "all cited references" in lyx I get the following reference list pdf outcome:

author1, author 2, author 3, author 4, ......, author N, (year) title of the article, ....

but

if I choose the option: list "all references" (i.e. also those that are not cited), and if I don't cite at all, I get the following outcome:

[author1 et. al (year) author 1 author 2 author 3 .... author N] author 1, author 2, .... author N, title of the article, .....

I tried around a bit and this problem really only occurs if I choose the option "all references" and do not cite at all. As soon as I cite at least one article there is no more problem and authors are displayed only once (as in my first example), ...
Also, if I cite using the "add to bibliography only" option, all the problems vanish ...

Any suggestions would help me a lot.
Thank You

Fabian
