Why does the child document modify the entire pdf?

Post by insipidtoast »

I've inserted a child document into my main document.

Now when I preview my pdf, the format is completely different.
1)It opens at a different zoom
2)The table of contents and list of figures has red boxes around every line
3)The box to type in page numbers is different. Instead of 1-115 it know allows me to type in "i" for the first page of the book instead of "1", which is what I was typing before I added the child document.
4)etc. etc. (probably some other differences)

My question:
Do all these red boxes in the table of contents/list of figures show up when the pdf is printed?

What if I want an ebook that doesn't have these red boxes and different format features?
FYI:
I'm using windows with LyX 2.0 and MiKTeX 2.9
I'm designing a book using the Koma-script class

Recommended reading 2024:

LaTeXguide.org • LaTeX-Cookbook.net • TikZ.org

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

I have no idea what's going on. I don't use child documents that often. Consider posting a bug report (www.lyx.org/trac) if you are sure this behavior is incorrect.

Weird. I tried again, and it didn't happen this time.

No, it's your PDF viewer showing you can click them.
I guess you are using FoxIt (since It has the red lines) check the options to disable this.
Also, you could very easily test this youself. Just print one page and check if you can see the red boxes on the paper. ;)
