Approach for a universal Text Layout

Post by lyxrocks »

There are two things you can do in LyX to change text layout:
  1. select -> right click -> paragraph settings
  2. document -> settings -> text layout -> spacing
and you can do these things in both the master and child document.

It's very confusing because I probably once changed paragraph settings manually (option a) somewhere, but I don't know where, so things are little "messed up" right now, how do I reset all text layout settings in my entire document (master and child)?

As you can see below, there is no "reset" option in either one. I want to reset all text layout (just spacing really) and just use b, document->settings->text layout->spacing to adjust my text layout from now on.

Well, it seems LyX experts are missing... could you post a stripped version of the problematic file so others could play with it trying to find a solution?

i am not sure if i could reproduce an example...

basically, i am confused about these:

1, how does master text layout affect child text layout? sometimes i see that the compiled child(just the child by itself) looks different from the same child within the compiled master.

2, how does one reset the whole document's text layout (both child and master)? is there a magic button that does that in Lyx?

well this is what I do, it is very unsophisticated however...

before I compile, I use option b (document -> settings -> text layout -> spacing) to change it into indentation instead of skip.

then i use option a (select whole document(ctrl+A) -> right click -> paragraph settings) to get rid of any indentation (uncheck Indent paragraph)

then i use option b again to change it back to Vertical space: MedSkip.

oh and i have to do the above for the master and ALL THE CHILD documents...very repetitive...
