LyX ⇒ Removing added word from spell-check (Hunspell)
Removing added word from spell-check (Hunspell)
I have the latest version of LyX installed (Win7 x64), I kept the default choice, Hunspell, to do the spell checking for me.
I made the stupid mistake of adding a word into the dictionary instead of having it replaced. And now I can't undo it. I am afraid that if I make the same typo again (chances of that are quite high), I wont notice it and the spell-check wont alert me.
What can I do?
Thanks a lot to anyone who reads this.
PS: It might be good to add a tool for this directly to LyX.
NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.
And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

welcome to the board!
Perhaps look for .dic files on your disk, open them and look for the word and remove it when found.

Re: Removing added word from spell-check (Hunspell)
thanks for the answer. I tried finding the .dic files before with no prevail (I found them, but the words are not added into them).
I found on one forum that the personal dictionary for Aspell is stored in a directory in AppData folder under my user files... so I searched the files in AppData for those that contained my typo, it took some time, but I found that
c:\Users\My_User_Name\AppData\Roaming\LyX2.0\pwl_english.dict
contained my added words list, so I just removed the typo from the list and restarted the LyX, it worked!
Hope this helps someone else trying to figure this out, based on my google search, I am not alone

Place the cursor inside the word you want to delete and activate the context menu (right mouse button). The context menu contains an item to remove the word from your personal dictionary.
If you have questions regarding LyX consider asking them in the LyX user forum.
